time to begin

I just finished my first painting for a group called different strokes from different folks. http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com/ Photos were exchanged by Karin Jurick who runs the blog and we painted and sent in our results. She has offered bi-weekly projects and has done an awesome job of organizing, posting and hosting the site. Anyway, I chose to do my painting in acrylic (I usually work in watercolor, or pastel), 5 x7 and hope the person I painted is happy with the result.

Maria, I am so happy to see you started a blog! I had wanted to comment on your portrait when I first saw it on DSDF, and then was surprised to see it when I followed your night painting here. I think it is very nice and a cut above most of the others. I was surprised though, when I saw it was done in acrylic. I really thought it was watercolor. ( From me, that is a compliment (-: ) It feels much too sensitive to be acrylic!

Carol, thank you. I guess that working in watercolors all these years had influenced this acrylic painting.
